Eleonora Meier (1977, Mendrisio) lives and works in Zurich. She studied in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and in Zurich at the ZHdK. Her artistic practice, which focuses on watercolor painting and drawing, plays with the appropriation and reconstruction of ephemeral architectures that inhabit false perspectives. What the eye reads and what our mind perceives seem to vibrate at cross purposes. Familiar objects behave strangely, mischievous half-revealed characters seem to be amused at our perplexity in this sumptuous parallel world. Figuration and abstraction bend elegantly against each other, shapes are only partially legible and yet full of humour, exultant at their own absurdity. Her work has been exhibited at: Museo d'Arte, Mendrisio; Passage de Retz, Paris; Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich; Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht.
