His 44 films have been shown at thousands of events organized by social movements, art institutions, and film festivals. Ressler has had solo survey exhibitions at the MNAC – National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest; SALT Galata, Istanbul; Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Seville; Museo Espacio, Aguascalientes, Mexico; and Belvedere 21, Vienna.<br><br>He has participated in over 480 group exhibitions, including at the Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; as well as in biennials in Prague, Seville, Moscow, Taipei, Lyon, Gyumri, Venice, Athens, Quebec, Helsinki, Jeju, Kyiv, Gothenburg, Istanbul, Stavanger, and at Documenta 14 in Kassel in 2017.<br><br>From 2019 to 2023, Ressler worked on a research project on climate justice movements, Barricading the Ice Sheets, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), which resulted in six solo exhibitions: Camera Austria, Graz (2021); Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb (2021); Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), Berlin (2022); Tallinn Art Hall, Tallinn (2022); LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón (2023); and The Showroom, London (2023). In 2002, he won first prize at the International Media Art Award of the ZKM in Karlsruhe. In 2016, he received the Swiss Art Award Prix Thun for Art and Ethics.
